A NEW CHAPTER IN MONROE

After living in the mountains of the Blue Ridge for a third of my life, I finally made a big move in May 2003- relocating to Monroe, North Carolina, near Charlotte. I thought it was time to move out of the woods of Floyd County and get closer to civilization- food stores, athletic clubs, Senior Citizen centers, hospitals, doctors. You know how it is, as we get "older" and our needs (and capabilities) change. Not that I'm over the hill you understand- just down on the flat lands. Instead of climbing to the top of Buffalo Mountain, I now sit under Bob's Big Oak Tree in my back yard. And contemplate a New Chapter in my life, though I still have fond memories of my Previous Chapter and a few links to the past.
It's been about four years since I wrote the above introductory paragraph.
So, the "New" Chapter in my life has been getting a little more mature
and older. The Big Oak tree got struck by lightening in Summer of 2006
and died. I was crushed emotionally, not physically, but yet, I can't
bring myself to cut it down. Its skeleton still remaines- I pretend
it's Winter. Things change. But sometimes it's hard to let go.
So, pull up a seat under the Old (Dead) Oak Tree and we'll chat: bobkramp(at)earthlink.net Replace (at) with @ symbol

MyFamly.com recently offered a web site which allowed me to upload a NARRATED slide show; so I created this 10 minute show on the STEMPFLY (STEMPFLEY) Line. Kinda rough- next time I'll use a written script.

The following pdf file is an Outline Descendant Chart
of the Charter Member Families of St. John's German Luthean Church in Houtzdale,
Clearfield County, PA. The earliest families in the church were constructed
using lists of Communicants which were listed BY FAMILY in the Kirchenbuch
(Parish Records). Baptismal entries which included the father and
the MAIDEN surname of the mother were used to create family units. Entries
for Marriages, Confirmations, and Deaths, further defined the families
and their descendants. To these data, were added information from censuses
and tombstones at local cemeteries in particularly, Beulah and IOOF cemeteries.
The Charter families and their descendents (through the 6th generation)
were then placed under a grand Progenitor which I named St. John's German
Lutheran PARISH. This allowed me to tie all the families together into
one database with an INDEX.
