Responsibility Statement

Join noted painter and Art Center instructor Mark Strickland for a very special weeklong seminar in the South of France. This program is designed for advanced and beginning painters alike who wish to investigate their own creativity, self-expression and inner knowing.

The rich history and culture of Southern France play an equally important part of the experience. Participants stay in the lovely 17th century village of Valleraugue, nearby Arles, Nimes, and Aix en Provence. Daily excursions with paints and easels provide an opportunity for exploring the stunning landscape that inspired Van Gogh, Gaugin, and Cezanne. Breakfasts and dinners are enjoyed at the popular Auberge Cevenol, known for it's warm atmosphere and delicious French cuisine. Lunches are picnic style during each day's outiing.

Group size is limited to ensure quality instruction as well as a supportive, nurturing environment. Past students say, "The seminar provided me the opportunity to paint the magnificent landscape and to photograph many small and remote villages which I used for future paintings. What was exceptional was Mark's knowledge of the area and superb painting instruction." and " I felt that the journey was as much and interior discovery of myself and my own freedom to express my creative process as it was an exploration of the area."

Mark Strickland has been an instructor at Art Center since 1978. He has also taught creativity seminars to major entertainment and advertising companies using right brain painting and drawing techniques. His paintings have been exhibited at the Grand Palais; Paris, France; Koplin Gallery: Beverly Hills, CA; and Tortue Gallery; Santa Monica, CA; among others. His publications include Art In America and Art Forum. Mark is fully bilingual and spends several months a year with his French wife and their two sons at their home in France.

Space is strictly limited. Reserve today!
