Babies!!

We do our shearing in May. The fiber is separated and bagged to prepare for the carding process which turns the fleece into roving.  I use hand cards, a drum carder and mini combs to process the fiber. After the roving is picked clean of vegetable matter, it is time to spin. I do most of my spinning on the Ashford "Joy" spinning wheel. The whole process is extremely time consuming, but the results are well worth it! Llama fiber has no oils and requires no detergents to clean and unlike sheep's wool it does not shrink.  A water rinse and a dab of  mild conditioner will finish it off.  It is then weighted and hung to set the spin.  This fiber is wonderful to work with and a luxurious addition to any project. Please see my Fiber Room page for pricing and availability  or email me for more information.
