Boldfaced statements are parts of the original essay (or a subsequent reply) to which the respondent has directed his comments.
Italicized/emphasized comments prefaced by (R) are those of the respondent and are presented unedited.
My replies appear under the respondent's comments in blue text and are prefaced by my initials (MB).
(R) Although I do believe that abortion should remain legal I don't think we should compare it to the death penalty.
(MB) I agree that they are two separate issues. Each should stand or fall on its own individual merits.
(R) Clearly, in the case of capital punishment, murder is sought to end the life of someone who is evil. In the case of abortion, absolutely there is no wrong doing.
(MB) The reason for capital punishment is to carry out the penalty our legal system prescribes for any person who commits certain crimes. Abortions are performed for an entirely different set of reasons. Defending the legality and/or morality of either will require two different sets of arguments.
