Stealing Jesus

 She lived alone on the streets,
so she lifted the six-foot tall
wooden Christ
weighing ninety pounds
off the front of the sanctuary.

Now James the Less Church is
more the less,
and Christ, too,
losing both previously-scarred hands,
and a toe.

Educated in the Scriptures, she said,
"If God is with you,"
Who can be against you?"

She was jailed about 12:40 p.m., Sunday
on suspicion of grand theft.
Officials believe the statue can be restored.
