ARTCYCLOPEDIA

    Your starting point for online research is Artcyclopedia.  You need to scroll down a bit to find this site's database search.  You will be able to search several different ways:

bulletArtists by Name
bulletArtworks by Title
bulletArt Museums by Name or Place

    Check the kind of search that you want, type in the words, and then click on the Search! button.  You will be taken to a page that has links to your subject.  Click on the links that seem relevant to your research.  You will probably have to navigate to several sites to gather your information.

    You may also search a few more ways at this website:

bulletby Medium
bulletby Subject
bulletby Nationality
bulletby Name, alphabetically

LIBRARIES

Don't forget your School and Local Libraries!

There are many Art History books and many books on specific artists.  You can even search all the libraries in New Castle County online for books.  If you have a library card you may also reserve them or have them sent from other libraries to the one closest to you!  All from your home computer.

Once on the homepage, select New Castle from the Library Catalogs drop-down menu in the yellow banner at the top of the page.

This takes you to the Library catalogs.  Click on the Search tab at the top of the page.

Type in your words and click GO.

bullet

You will now have a list of books that matched your search words.  Click on a book title to see a detailed description of the book.

Scroll down to Copy/Holding Information.

If there are no libraries listed there click on the box labeled Other Locations.

bullet

This gives you a list of what libraries have the book and if it is checked in.

bullet

If you have a library card and pin number you can reserve the book at a certain library or have it transferred to a library near you by clicking on Request Copy.

bullet

Log in with your library card number (barcode number) and your four digit pin number.  Follow the directions from there.
