When in Europe: A Travelogue Collection

by Carlo N. Samson

An Introduction by the Author

London, Paris, Spain, Italy, Ireland...

My first trip to Europe was such a cool experience that after I returned home, I wrote down everything that I saw and did, and sent a copy of the essay to my friends. Thus began my practice of writing a travelogue for each place I visited. I've found that having a permanent record of my travel experiences is useful and valuable, in order to preserve memories that would otherwise become lost over time.

This book, then, is a collection of the travelogues that I wrote for the vacations that I've taken in Europe so far. My visit to Paris even inspired a short story, "Parisian Pursuit", based upon my experiences there. At the time these were written, I was living in the suburbs of Chicago. I was 22 years old and in college when I stepped off the plane in London, the first European city I've ever been to. It's now been a little over a decade since that time, and with luck I'll be travelling overseas for many more years to come!
