"Killers with Profile"
A man strokes the hand that points the weapon toward him. An image, meaningful,
and sensual at the same time. In it, the conflict of a corrupt policeman is
crystalized, and you understand. This small, seemingly incidental detail fundamentally
changes the mystery. It gives a deeper motive to the mystery, making it wonderful.
Thomas Kretschmann plays the cop in the SAT 1 thriller "Der Tod in deinen
Augen", an exceptional TV movie. The idea, to turn a deaf woman into the heroine,
offers a quantity of extraordinary situations to drive the film. Dark house
stairways, dangerous boat-trips on the Elbe, conspiratorial encounters on
highrise roofs, a showdown at the Hamburg freight-harbor, looked good, was
staged dynamically, deep and exciting. And rare in the usual TV movie, this
was an intelligent, emotional romantic thriller without the usual happy ending.
