I had to reserve a day permit for Coyote Buttes north seven months in advance. BLM restricts the number of people permitted in the area.

The most popular formation in the north Buttes is The Wave. It's about four miles over redrock from the trailhead.

It had rained heavily a couple of days before, and water was still pooled in the formations.
