The Mitchell-Peck Cup, a spectacular new perpetual trophy created exclusively for

the wonderful new International Polo Club Palm Beach in sunny Wellington, Florida. Inspired by the trophies created in the 19th Century, it stands 24" high and boasts a full team of polo players with heads bowed reverentially, magnificently detailed busts of polo ponies, decorated plinths, and a hand-raised bowl 14" in diameter that demanded over 750,000 hammer blows to raise it from a disc of Sterling Silver.

Designed and executed by Master Goldsmith Philip Peck (far right in photo) in the Mitchell-Peck Studios, this trophy stands to mark the beginning of a new era for Polo in Palm Beach. It is a metaphor for passion, integrity, and tradition: a tribute to the efforts and dream of Mr. John B. Goodman.

A Sterling Silver cup, the like of which has not been made in the United States for almost one hundred years, it is meant to embody the best of both art forms. The hand-raised bowl and meticulously detailed sculptures echo the ideals of both the maker and the muse, and the lengths they will pursue to create the very best.

It is said that honor is the most noble reward one can receive from one's fellows acknowledging his or her achievements: it is the child of victory. This trophy, as a symbol of victory, was designed to honor the man, his dream, the sport he so admires, and all those who play it.

Since the full-scale Mitchell-

Peck Cup is a perpetual cup, with

a permanent home at the IPCPB,

a miniature, (Quarter-scale) exact

replica of the trophy was created.

This intricate 5" tall Sterling Silver

Cup stands atop a base of exotic

Pauduk wood. A new mini-trophy

will be created and presented every

year as an award to the Patrone of

the winning team.

In 2004, the very first was

presented to Victor Vargas (No. 1,

standing next to Kathleen Mitchell

in photo above), of team Lechuza

from Caracas, Venezuela.

There are only three ways to

view this exquisite little trophy up

close: win one, be well acquainted

with someone who has won a cup

in the past, or visit the Mitchell-
