In
the early 1500's, Magellan was believed to have become the first man to circle the globe. Though no less
formidable, sailing around the world was no longer unimaginable. As Magellan's quest made the world a little
smaller, the cufflinks that bear his name put circumnavigation at your fingertips.
Each cufflink displays a different hemisphere,
East depicting
Europe, Asia,
Africa, Australia and the Antarctic; West depicting
North and South America,
and the Arctic. Continents and Meridian
lines in 18 karat
yellow gold form the barrier for vibrant and dynamic
vitreous enamel oceans.
White enamel marks the frozen poles, trans-
parent turquoise enamel
flows around the landmasses, and a deep, rich
transparent blue
enamel forms the depths of the open ocean. Small
starburst patterns,
seen through the enamel, are engraved in the cells
between the
Meridians, and two Platinum compass rosettes with
diamonds sit atop the
poles.
Extraordinary
in design and detail, their geographical features
include, among others, Madagascar,
the Caspian Sea, and the Hudson
Bay. The back
of each cufflink is a Platinum Lunar hemisphere,
complete with topographical
elements of the Moon's surface.
