Rockets and Space Vehicle Models are from the personal collections of O.S.S.E. members. TOP PHOTO: Models exhibited by O.S.S.E during SPACEWEEK display at Veteran's bldg. auditorium in Lompoc CA. Models in top photo primarily represent USAF Military Launch Vehicles, the USAF Manned Orbiting Laboratory program concepts and USAF winged rocket plane and transport concepts. CENTER PHOTO: Models depicted show NASA launch vehicles and spacecraft for Projects Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Shuttle programs. Russian space vehicles on display include Vostok, Voskshod, Soyuz, N-1 Moon rocket and Raketoplane concept. LOWER PHOTO: Models include the Lunar Roving Vehicle, Space shuttle payloads such as the Hubble Space Telescope and Tracking & Data Relay satellite. Additional models show the Shuttle External Tank space station and single stage to orbit space shuttle concept.

UPPER PHOTO: O.S.S.E. models on display include Russian Soyuz launch vehicle & spacecraft, Space shuttle operational & transatmospheric vehicle concepts as well as shuttle payloads such as Spacelab and Space Telescope. CENTER PHOTO: O.S.S.E. model display on behalf of Rocketdyne NSS chapter at Van Nuys Airport inside hangar. LOWER PHOTO: Scale models of rocket motors are representative of propulsion systems for every major launch vehicle system from Redstone, Atlas to Saturn and Shuttle Main Propulsion Engine.

UPPER LEFT PHOTO: O.S.S.E. built 1/48 scale Saturn V Moon rocket. With launch umbilical tower the model display measures 12'ft. tall. A smoke generator mounted in the base of the mobile launch platform emits "loxing boil-off fumes" which swirl around the base of the Saturn and various levels of the tower. UPPER RIGHT PHOTO: 1/48 scale Mercury/Redstone launch vehicle with cherry picker gantry and ground support equiment at base. LOWER LEFT PHOTO: O.S.S.E. display models feature a 1/12 scale Lunar Excursion Module and a 1/12 scale Lunar Roving Vehicle. The LRV model was originally the radio controlled proof-of-concept vehicle for the full size O.S.S.E. LRV. LOWER RIGHT PHOTO: Andy Astronaut*tm holds the O.S.S.E. designed model of Lunar Base 1, a hypothetical base constucted using spacelab modules, inflatables and a SNAP 1000A radioisotopic nuclear generator. Vehicles include standard Boeing Lunar Rovers and Lunar Flying Units (LFU) and hoppers.

UPPER LEFT AND UPPER RIGHT PHOTOS: O.S.S.E. built models from the U.S. Project Apollo Lunar Exploration Program. 1/48 scale Apollo Lunar Module depicts the "Eagle" lunar lander and the immediate area around the landing site with the deployed (EASEP) Early Apollo Lunar Scientific Experiments Package. 1/10 scale Apollo Moonsuit shows Astronaut Neil Armstrong egressing from the LM footpad onto the Lunar Surface. Armstrong is shown wearing the Int'l Latex Corp. Apollo A7L full pressure suit in Lunar Extravehicular configuration mated to Hamilton Standard's Portable Life Support System biopack which provided the Apollo 11 crew with 4 hrs. of O-2 and a 30 minute reserve. LOWER LEFT PHOTO: O.S.S.E. was asked by the California Museum of Science and Industry in LA to provide a memorial for the Challenger Crew for press and video news crews covering public reaction. O.S.S.E. also included rememberances for the Crew of Apollo One as well. LOWER RIGHT PHOTO: Former X-15 USAF research test pilot, Pete Knight reminisces about the X-15 flight test program while examining an O.S.S.E. X-planes model display where Knight was honored during a Hawthorne Air Faire banquet paying tribute to the accomplishments of the rocket plane program.
