Far Enough

        I will not bring you close.
        In the mists of distance
        I create the imagination of you,
        never becoming ordinary,
        never too clear or sharp
        around the edges.

        Like a character in a book
        I pick you up in the moonlight.
        Between the lines of you
        I look out and see stars
        in the night sky.
        As far away as that
        I will keep you,
        pinpoint of brilliance,
        as constant as nature
        in your mystery.
