MINNESOTA BRITTANY CLUB AWARDS
Points will be based on trials and shows for the calendar year.
To be eligible, a member must have been a member of the Minnesota Brittany Club for the current year (Members-at-large
or other regional club members who transfer to the Minnesota Brittany Club are eligible in the initial calendar year only
if they have moved into the area served by the Minnesota Brittany Club).
The awards (dual, field, show, obedience) will be based on AKC and American Field trial results published in the PURE-BRED
DOGS – AMERICAN KENNEL GAZETTE and AMERICAN FIELD, and on AKC show results published in the PURE-BRED DOGS – AMERICAN
KENNEL GAZETTE. All points must be verified.
It is important that you list the date, trial/show and points won. This
will greatly help our 3rd Vice President.
Junior Handler and Young Handler will be selected by the Awards Committee from information submitted. These young people must be from a club member’s household.
All dogs will be recognized in The American Brittany magazine with the dual dog getting top recognition. The club will run a full page ad in the magazine – if we have a dual award winner, it would get half
(1/2) of the page and a photo – the other winners would receive the other half (1/2) page; and if no dual award was
given, they would only run a half (1/2) page ad listing the award, dog’s name, owner, and handler if desired.
It will be the owner’s responsibility to contact the current committee chairperson or club secretary giving the
placements for their Brittany. These wins will be verified as mentioned above.
The points for show and field are shown in the following schedules:
If a dog is a Field Champion, Amateur Champion, or Champion, it shall be given the following points each year for the
dual award:
AKC Field Champion – 40 points, AKC Amateur Champion – 30 points, if no points were earned. If more than the 30/40 field points were earned, the earned points will be used but not both.
AKC Show Champion – 40 points if no show points were earned. If
more than 40 show points were earned, the earned points will be used but not both.
The obedience award will be based on the average of the three highest scores.
Companion Dog Excellent title will add three points on to the average. Utility
Dog title will add five points on to the average.
By using the schedules, points for the dual dog award are calculated as follows:
Field Trial

Dual Dog Award Points =
Total Field Trial x Total Show Points
Points for
All Dual for All Dual
Dogs
Dogs
The dual dog must accumulate points in both field (with first or second place) and show (actual AKC show points, and/or
futurity Show Points Schedule). The 40 points given to the Field Champion, the
30 points given to the amateur Champion, and the 40 points given to the Show Champion count as accumulated points.
