and Intelligence Officer, is a plain, unadorned statement of
the movements and operations of the regiment. The 310th trained
at Ft. Dix in the summer of 1917 and arrived in Calais on 9 June
1918 with 106 officers and 3,338 enlisted men. It fought at St.
Mihiel and participated in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. During
the twenty months of its existence, the 310th carried more than
7,500 officers and men on its rolls and had 1,802 killed, wounded
and missing. On 5 June 1919, the regiment was disbanded at Ft
.Dix. Bottom corners & pages slightly water damaged. Top

what appears to be standard cav. saber. Inscription around edges
in Japanese translates as: "Presented to my esteemed friend
Munson-gun/l March 1936/ Commanding officer 10th Field Artillery
Regiment/ Masao Wantanabe" Translated by Roger Pineau. Frederick
Munson: USMA '32, Japanese language officer, studied in Japan
4 years during the last he was assigned to the 10th Arty. Regt.
This photo was a formal present at end of the year. Munson later
served on Halsey's intelligence staff in the South Pacific. Wantanabe
was later CO of the 56th Div in 1940, CO of the 32d Army on Okinawa
March - Aug 1944. $200
