Buildings,
Terrain & SuchThis is the first of the St. Paul Irregulars' buildings that I bought at Drums Along the Maumee 2008. They are carried by Battlefield Accessories, and are listed as suited for 15mm-20mm. You can see some of my 20mm Liberation Miniatures African militia alongside, for scale.
I've been very happy with these buildings and would likely buy more. The structure separates into three levels: Ground floor; Second floor; Roof. Each lifts off easily and there is plenty of height for 20mm figures to be placed inside. I intend to use this for my Modern Africa games, when we do city fights.
I painted the stone facade of the building black, first. I successively dry brushed dark gray and lighter gray layers over it to pick out the details. The roof was painted a red brown first, with dry brushing done in the orangish tone of Howard Hues "Middle Eastern Flesh." A final dry brush of Khaki picks out the highlights.
The detail on the first floor facade was somewhat laborious, but gives a good effect, I thought. The windows are done black with white diagonal lines to show reflection of sunlight. The stained glass transom or window above the door turned out nicedly, and is simply various shapes painted with bright colors. Below is a view of the interior of the building, with the various levels separated.
