Nubian, 3000 - 1480 BC

This army was painted up as the first enemy for my New Kingdom Egyptians. The many stands of Bow they may select on their list could create headaches for the Egyptian chariot core, and their Warbands are a danger to the Egyptian heavy foot. However, it takes a lot of skill for a Nubian commander to best his Egyptian counterpart on the battlefield.

Nubian camp

I was given this sphinx by my friend, Mike Stelzer. Since I already had an Egyptian camp constructed, I thought it'd make a great centerpiece for a Nubian one. I painted it dark brown, then drybrushed it khaki, to give it that wind-blown, abandoned look. The bow armed guard atop the statue is from Chariot Miniatures "cheiftain pack," I believe. The goats are from Falcon UK, and the woman with child...well, I'm not really sure WHERE I got that figure! However, I was quite happy with how this camp turned out. It's a tad tall, so doesn't fit in the same box with the Nubians themselves. That's no major problem, though, as my Plano figure box has an upper section that easily accomodates my larger camps.
