ANCIENTS

Here are my armies used for De Bellis Antiquitatis -- a fast-play set of Ancient rules. Each army is composed of 12 stands (or "elements") of troops. Troop types range from among infantry types such as Pikes, Bows, Warbands and many others, or mounted types such as Elephants, Knights, Light horse, etc. I've arranged them chronologically, matching the way DBA rules list them.

BOOK I, THE CHARIOT PERIOD - 3000 - 500 BC

Nubian
Early Bedouin
Early Libyan
Syro-Canaanite
New Kingdom Egyptian
Early Hebrew
Sea-Peoples
Thracian

BOOK II, THE CLASSICAL PERIOD - 500 BC - 476 AD

Later Hoplite Greek
Gallic
Asiatic Early Successor
Polybian Roman
Parthian
Pictish
Sassanid Persian
Early Frankish
Hunnic
Sub-Roman British
Later Visigothic
African Vandal

BOOK III, THE EARLY MEDIEVAL PERIOD - 476 AD - 1071 AD

Early Slav
Italian Ostrogothic
Early Byzantine
Khmer and Cham
Carolingian Frankish
Norse Viking and Leidang

BOOK IV, THE HIGH MEDIEVAL PERIOD - 1071 AD - 1500 AD

Feudal French
Later Crusader
Indonesian or Malay
Siamese
War of the Roses English

Of course, many of the above armies can be used to field others of the 306 armies listed in the rules. For example, I use my Polybian Romans as "Marian Romans," or my Alexandrian Successors as various other Macedonian or Hellenistic kingdoms. This becomes even more true with my Medieval figures, which were purposely painted up as generically as possible, so that I could use them as for the various iterations of Feudal or Medieval English, French, Spanish, etc.

Camps for De Bellis Antiquitatis (DBA) Ancients

One of my trademarks in DBA is the creation and building of interesting camps. For awhile (when I had more time), I took commissions or built DBA camps to sell online or at conventions. That spare time has all but disappeared, but I fortunately kept a record of all the camps I built and sold (or most of them, I think). This page shows pictures and details construction methods for quite a large number of camps.

Dark Age Skirmish

Seven Years War

Pictures of the 18th Century armies of the kingdoms that fought during the "Age of Reason."

Modern Africa

Pictures of the various factions that I've painted up to battle for control of The Congo during the post-Independence time period.

Colonials/Victorian Science Fiction

Pictures of my Italian Colonials, which I've painted up for my friend Tom's Colonial/VSF games

Fantasy

Centaurs of the Spiral Tower
Hobbits of Buckleberry
