I have been completely and utterly appalled with the actions of the Democratic Party over the past couple days.
First, we let Tom Delay stand before the media claiming he is fighting for the life of Terri Schalvo yet he had the gall to swindle funds between his PAC and other various interest groups during his campaigns (here is the proof if you need it). Second, DailyKos reports that this was a setup and inevitability after we had our ass handed to us in the last election. ABC News uncovered Republican talking points which stated that this was an issue that the Democrats would roll over and give up on as we needed to come across as "in touch" with Middle America.
Screw Middle America, they are the problem to begin with. If this constant attack on the American Legal system continues on its present course then I am going to go completely rouge in party operations and take the tough road. The road where I stand up for the 48% who supported Kerry in the last election, a road that views the American justice system in its highest regards and does not attempt to strong arm judges after they make decisions which are not in favor with a limited number of senators.
In the press conference that aired this morning on CNN, Delay claimed that the judge in the Scahivo case is "An activist judge." Wrong, the judge is a Republican (who after this whole thing is probably rethinking his party affiliation). Additionally, the United States Supreme Court ruled twice against the Schivo case and refused to hear the issue, thus letting the decision made by the judge in the case stand. I don't know what planet Delay is on, but in the United States the Courts are part of the Judiciary. While we have a system of checks and balances in place, the actions of congress clearly oversteps their constitutional boundaries. The Supreme Court, considered the most conservative court in the land, refused to get invovled in this family spat and they will continue to do so if the case reaches the court for a third time.
Forget the Constitution: your rights, your privacy, and your freedoms are all gone under the guise of religion.
Thanks for not paying attention!
