Delay, Drop Dead
I woke up this morning and turned on CNN. Normally, this is a normal non-event for me, I get the morning news, turn to Sportscenter, and then surf the blogosphere for the latest in political news. However, today made me so fuming mad I just had to get this post out there.
Tom Delay, the man who took trips to
What good is a legal system when in cases of religious matters the court is constantly overruled by Congress? In the Boy Scout case, the moment Judge Frazee ruled in favor of our case, state senators and California Attorney General Dan Lungren attempted to past special protections for the Boy Scouts even though they were in clear violation of the Unruh Civil Rights Act. Returning to the issue at hand, the idea that congress can subpoena a vegetable to testify before congress just shows how far American politics has gone off the deep end. In the last week we have had professional baseball players (which have delivered surprisingly eloquent statements before the congressional record) and soon a person who is legally brain dead subpoenaed to testify before a congressional committee. In Schivo's case a statement will probably be entered into the record by a family attorney and not the actually intent or motive of Teri Schivo herself. As for Tom Delay, you claim you are a religious man, a claim which you have increasingly started to hide behind since the talk of your indiscretions hit the mainstream media and the blogosphere. If this is an attempt to hide from your problems (and I'm sure it is) you are truly a disgrace to your faith and to your office in congress.
