Getting Nasty Fast

Getting Nasty, Fast

Today, John Kerry selected John Edwards as his running mate. At the Kerry Victory 2004 office we all had a hunch that Edwards was the man who was going to get the nod but we denied any rumors or speculation from volunteers or donors. One sign that Edwards was going to be the main selection was a majority of our staff worked to support Edwards during the primaries, my boss even worked at his national campaign headquarters. Edwards is the right choice for America, he has the vigor, a young skill, and has a working heart (unlike the cold heart of Cheney). Our Veep can work a crowd, speak like Clinton, and run a marathon all in the same day without a pill-popping doctor nearby. Since I got up this morning the news reported the Bush camp was armed and ready for this announcement. They released a 30 page report on Edwards record (the report stated what republicans always say about lawyers, "their nothing but ambulance chasers.") CNN even went so far to break down the dirt report by pointing out Edwards voted against increased Body Armor for the troops, but the report failed to point out the pork barrel projects tacked onto the bill by the Republican leadership in Congress. The nastiness unveiled today is just the start of what is to become the dirtiest campaign in American history. Just like the war in Iraq, Bush fired the first shot, long on the real issues and short on the facts, missing his target like an American smart bomb!
