"We build no temple but the capitol, We consult no oracle but the Constitution." -Quote above the Office of the Sargent-at-Arms in the U.S. Capitol

Oh, Don't you just love Politics!

I'm sitting here watching the motorcade carrying President Reagan to his final resting place, seeing all of the people line the roads, the stopped traffic on the freeway, and the thousands of flags. But then I remember the marine who stood next to Paul Wolfowitz (pardon the misspell) who tried to salute Reagan's casket at the capitol building. The young marine tried to lift his arm to salute, but he quickly lowered what was remaining of his arm and stood at attention. This was right next to the man who wanted to go to war with Iraq since the first days of the Bush administration took office. We need change in this country, we need to return to the "shinning city on the hill," we need to regain our respect and show true leadership in the world. We can't return to this under Shrub, jr's administration. While Kerry took the week off to respect the life of Reagan, I hope this is the start of the return to the political debate. Republicans need to avoid any reference or comparison of Bush with Reagan as we will quickly bring up Reagan's wasteful spending with the Star Wars program and his failure to aid the inner city poor. In Berkeley and in San Francisco most buildings refused to fly their flags at half-mast, it was this refusal that made me proud to be an American. Blindly following the crowd will lead us all to disaster, we must raise the level of debate even in times of death. In closing I ask you to support Kerry OC and the Democratic National Convention, as Kerry is truly the man who can lead us back to the "shinning city on the hill."
