The LSAT is eating my Brain (and my Wallet)!

The LSAT is eating my Brain (and my Wallet)!

On Wensday, I went out to UCLA to check out the law school and simply kick around campus. UCLA is vastly different then CSUF, when you want to study, other students around you are just a gung ho, you make the slightest noise and you'll hear "Shhhh" quickly. As my brother mentioned on his blog we were both in Northern California last week to visit three of the UC Law Schools. Once again, I was impressed with a majority of California's law schools (you can read the Eagle's Nest to figure out the one we mutually disliked). I miss living near Los Angeles, when I was young my family lived in Culver City and we felt like part of the big city. Our next-door neighbors where child actors, the parents of one of my friends both worked for movie studios, and if you ever needed to go into downtown L.A., you were only ten minutes away. For the first time I realize how far away, I am from the hustle and bustle of the major city living here in Orange County. Don't get me wrong, if you need a slower pace of life then the OC is great, we have huge shopping malls, tons of starbucks, Disneyland, and a pretty good baseball team all in our backyard. However, we also suffer from a disconnect, we each live in cities which are isolated from each other. We can't even build a light rail line or an airport without one city disagreeing with the other. The OC suffers from such a high rate of NIMBYism (Not In My Backyard) that it is a wonder the County can get anything done. Sorry for the tangent, as for the LSAT I spent two hours on campus at UCLA studying logic games for the October 2nd LSAT, and I still need to review the material to see where I'm going wrong. With only three months to go before the biggest exam in my life, (this will be the only time I will mention the importance of this exam) I'm getting ready to put down twelve hundred dollars for an intensive prep course through Testmasters. My plans have already started as I am slowly working my way through a Kaplan LSAT prep book to familiarize me with the contents of the exam. Twelve hundred dollars is a lot of money in my current situation, I still can't find a job, which pays a decent wage (I had one with Gateway, but you know what happen there). So to fill in the gap I'm interning with the Orange County for Kerry campaign and providing assistance on my Dad's new book regarding California Personal Injury Law. One gives me the satisfaction of defeating George W. Bush in November and the other gives me free rent, but they don't add anything to my bank account. My recent graduation added some, and to those who gave me gifts I give my deepest thanks. ---- Oh, I forgot to mention, I added a new toy to my tech arsenal: a 15gb 3g iPod. So far I have the oral arguments for Katz v. US and Miranda v. US for my listening pleasure, numerous music CDs (all classics such as the Beetles, Elvis, and Led Zeppelin), and iCon (the downloadable constitution for your iPod). The battery life is not the full eight hours one might expect, but I did manage to get it to last from Berkeley to the Tajon pass before it showed a low battery icon. One more thing, I aced my final semester with straight A's (Dean's List three times!!!) "Audentes Fortuna Juvat"
