Cal State Fullerton National Champions!
Cal State Fullerton National Champions!
"Don't Mess with Texas" No, really, are you sure? Is that Cal State Fullerton walking away with the national championship trophy? (point's over to large crowd near home plate) The student and the teacher in a showdown at Omaha. The student schooling the teacher in the art of Baseball. What does it take to get respect? Cal State Fullerton is a good school and a lot of good people have passed through it's doors, but in a discussion with others from the UC's and some Ivy League schools at a event for a state senator I learned Cal State Fullerton still has a long way to go. So far the road to respect has gone through UC Irvine, Tulane, Arizona State, University of Southern California, University of South Carolina, and now Texas. Each step grows CSUF's reputation in the community and in the nation. Long Beach State has gained some national attention due to Jerrod Weaver pitching for the dirt bags and the occasional sighting of Leonardo Dicaprio with a LBSU hat at some Hollywood events. But, where is Long Beach state in the College World Series, they are missing in action. The best pitcher in the nation was torn up in the Big West title game by the titans and then shredded by the University of Arizona (the last PAC-10 team to make the baseball super regionals). A group of blue collar, rough and tumble, and rag tag bunch of players succeeded in a feat which no major university has accomplished. We have four national Baseball titles, we have the largest average attendance of any college baseball team and this is in an area which has to compete with Angel's Baseball, Dodger's baseball, various sporting events, and numerous local attractions. The Orange County fans keep coming. Every game they pour into Goodwin Field to see a show, one of the finest shows in college baseball. We now have the trophy to prove our worth to the nation as a team and as a school. The "F" stands for Fullerton, it also stands for "First in the Nation"
