Second Star on the Right, and Straight on 'till Morning
Second Star on the Right, and Straight on 'till Morning
There is something eerie about graduation. Your done with all of your work, you wonder around empty buildings, you hear the constant "beep, beep, beep" of forklifts setting up for commencement, and you can finally find a parking space. I can't believe another four years of my life blew by. When I woke up this morning it felt like the first day of my freshman year. My dad woke me up, with a reminder of the time, I rolled out of bed, turned off my alarm, flipped on the morning news (if you can even call it news anymore), stumbled out into the kitchen, and enjoyed breakfast. But this morning was different. In my closet I had my honor society awards all laid out on my cap and gown, my class ring stared me in the face, and a bright and cheery picture of me on the floor of the California state senate was squarely on my desk. Four years and a lot changed. My grandpa Skinner past away in January. It was painful for me to watch an energetic and smart man whither away before his time. I wish he could see me on Sunday, I know he would be proud of his grandsons. I may be a tough guy, but just typing this is causing me to tear up. So as I turn off the lights in the Pre-Law Society office and prepare to embark on my next endeavor, aim the boat... "To the second star on the right, and straight on 'till morning"
