Don Juan and me

NEW:  Don Juan was Cat of the Day!  He marked the occasion by catching a mouse, which I released back into the wild.  (Well, it was Bastille Day!)

Don Juan and I met each other at the Santa Clara Valley Humane Society in April 2001, about two weeks after Cardamom passed away.  He introduced himself by kissing my hand.  What a gentleman!

(Especially considering that the Humane Society rendered him incapable of BEING a Don Juan before I took him home.)

The photo above was taken in the courtyard at St. Luke's Los Gatos in October 2001, just after the annual Blessing of the Animals.  Don Juan behaved beautifully, especially considering the composition of the congregation.  Who would have thought that a town called "Los Gatos" would contain so many dogs?

He's a good cat.  Affectionate, playful, sweet-tempered and patient.  Has a couple of bad habits, such as draping himself across my lap no matter HOW hot it is, or wanting attention when I’m at the computer job-hunting.  But he's a real sweetheart and a good friend.

fur-sister, Zerlina!
