Monique wasn't quite what her mother had named her,
but what she'd adopted for a much better flavor
of what she envisioned her life had been destined to be.
She had all the right things & in all the right places:
the body, the brains, the passion, the face that
could make her be known as the hottest thing up on the screen.

Her mother had once been the new Betty Grable
who had what it took, but then wasn't quite able
to bring it together enough for herself in time.
So she pushed & she prodded & managed her daughter
from the very beginning to become what she sought to
develop: a life at the top of the show business line.

    You know it's still the SAME OLD STORY:
    a parent's thwarted search for glory.
    A mother's yearning lust for fame
    thrust upon the child to claim.

The trainings, the lessons, the practice, the classes,
ballet & piano, the fine social graces,
the hours, the days & the years all spent getting in tune.
The contests, the pageants, festivities, shows,
the winnings, the losings, frustrations that go
with a shoot for the stars when the furthest you get is the moon.

Her mother passed on to that Stage in the Sky,
while Monique is below some producer-type guy
who'd do what he could & he promised if only she would ...
Monique's now in pictures. She's hot on the screen,
'though not the same movies her mother'd foreseen.
