BIKER IN MY MIRROR

Usual freeway speed
is twenty above the limit,
with cars and trucks and busses end-to-end.
When suddenly next to me,
a vision not for the timid:
a motorcycle screaming past my 'Benz.
Startled out of a trance,
I just about knock him over
and almost swerve into the other lane.
Continuing to advance,
he squeezes between the others
and rides the yellow line like he's insane.
There was a BIKER IN MY MIRROR.
Where'd he go? Where'd he go?
There was a BIKER IN MY MIRROR.
Where'd he go?
He was right there for a second,
now he's gone and disappeared.
There was a BIKER IN MY MIRROR.
Where'd he go?
Not that I wish him ill,
but he will get just what's coming.
What's coming is a car that doesn't see.
He's bound to be in a spill.
He's bound to get a messy drumming.
I hope the car that smears him won't be me.
CHORUS
Now, I'm not adverse to cycles.
I've had choppers, rice-burners and trikes.
But since I have moved out here,
bikers give me a cause for fear,
and not just for myself, but for their own lives.
Ev'ry day, in the news
there seems to be the same old story:
a biker down and traffic blocked for miles.
You'd like to think they might choose
a way that won't end so gory.
But all you see are bugs on toothy smiles.
CHORUS
Whoa!! Where the hell did he come from?!!
