I offer advanced therapeutic and medicinal massage
and bodywork with the intention of relieving chronic pain and improving body posture/alignment. Therapeutic massage
is the manipulation of body muscles and tissues to alleviate pain, discomfort, and stress, usually addressing (touching to
heal) the entire body. Medicinal massage is therapeutic massage with the focus of touching to heal specific ailments/injuries/specific
areas of the body and preventing reoccurrence in the future.
My sessions can last from 30 minutes to 1-1/2
hours long depending on the needs of the client and intention of the session, unless there are special requests for longer
durations. Review through Session Prices, Your Appointments, Massage Tips, and Massage Benefits links to prepare for
your first/next massage appointment.
I design sessions with the best massage-bodywork
treatment to fit the client's requests. I take great care and special attention to clients' needs to see that they are
cared for, safe, and comfortable. Below is a list of the primary modalities I use in my practice:
Structural Integration (SI) 10-Series (also known as Rolfing) uses slow strokes and deep pressure on contracted muscles, while the client
performs small muscle movements to optimally STRETCH the connective tissue/fascia. Oils or lotions are sometimes
used. Clients may remain clothed or unclothed (usually shorts/bra or 2-piece bathesuit) to their level of comfort. In
the series, the connective tissue is released, realigned,
and balanced throughout the whole body. Experiencing this 10-Series (10 separate sessions where each part
of your body will be touched from head to toe, side to side) enhances your posture and freedom of movement along with improving
your emotional perspective too. Typical sessions are up to 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours in duration.
Rossiter System “Workouts” techniques use deep pressure on contracted
muscles, while the client performs small muscle movements in the "locked" position to optimally STRETCH the connective
tissue/fascia. Sessions are short, very intensive, and are focused on specific areas of pain in the body.
These sessions are referred to as Rossiter Workouts. Clients remain clothed and generally on a floor
mat. Typical sessions are 30 minutes in duration.
Traditional Thailand (Thai)
Massage (for both body and foot) combines point pressure work with a variety of stretching movements
applied slowly in gentle rocking patterns and rhythmic compressions. This experience is like having yoga done to you!
Clients remain clothed on a floor mat or table. Typical sessions are up to 1-1/2 hours in duration. Special
requests can be made for 2 hour sessions.
Neuromuscular Therapy (also known as Trigger Point Therapy) helps to break
the pain cycle by releasing trigger points within muscle tissue, by applying concentrated pressure to irritated areas of tissue.
This therapy may be combined with circulatory massage to help calm the nervous system. Oils or lotions are used.
Clients undress to their level of comfort (usually shorts/bra or 2-piece bathesuit) but only for the area that is being addressed.
Typical sessions are up to 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours in duration.
Reiki is
a Japanese technique administered by the "laying of hands". "Rei" means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and
"Ki" means "life force energy". Therefore, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy".
The technique is used for stress reduction and relaxation in order to stimulate the body's natural healing process.
Clients remain clothed on a floor mat or table. Typical sessions are up to 1 hour in duration.
Below is a list of the secondary modalities I blend
in with my primary practice:
Circulatory massage promotes
general relaxation and improves circulation of the blood and lymph fluids in the body. Swedish style is invigorating,
and Esalen is focused on relaxation. Oils or lotions are used. Clients undress to their level of comfort.
Deep Tissue Sculpting
can help release chronic pain and muscle tension by manipulating fascia encasing muscle tissue. Sessions focus on one
or two body regions. No oils or lotions are used. Clients may remain clothed or unclothed to their level of comfort.
Passive Joint Movement uses
the rhythm of the client and passive point movement to remind the body of its full potential range of motion. No oils
or lotions are used. Clients may remain clothed or unclothed to their level of comfort.
With an exception of the Traditional
Thailand massage and the Rossiter System “Workouts” (both on a pad, fully clothed), massage work will be done on a massage table. If a session
recommends the client to be unclothed, the draping technique will be used and the client undresses to his/her level
of comfort. A sheet will be used for draping. The massage therapist (I) will leave the room while the client
undresses and relaxes onto the table and between the sheets. Only the area to be massaged will be exposed. Genitals
and women's breasts are covered at all times.
