I got married 29 November 1969 to my high school sweetheart, Ida Mae Hunter in Tacoma, Washington. We have one child, Heather
Marie, who was born after a 90 mile high speed trip on the back roads of Spain from Toledo to the hospital in Madrid.
I am retired from the United States Air Force after twenty three years of active duty. These years included tours of duty
to, Washington state, Germany, Spain, Korea, Australia, and India. My last duty of assignment was at Lowry Air Force Base,
Colorado where I decided to retire after the announcement of the base closure. I received four Meritorious Service Medals,
two Air Force Commendation Medals, six Good Conduct Medals and various other medals and citations. During these years of service
I was accompanied by my loving wife, Ida Mae, with the exception of the tour of duty to Korea.
I started out in the Air Force in Strategic Air Command (SAC) as Non Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC), Bomber and
Tanker Alert Facilities in Spokane, Washington. I stayed in the Administrative career field for eight years before cross training
into Special Electronics. The rest of my duty with the Air Force was in support of the Air Force Technical Applications Center
(AFTAC) at Patrick AFB, Florida.
During my association with the Air Force Technical Applications Center I was a maintenance specialist, maintenance supervisor,
station superintendent, superintendent of personnel and training, and first sergeant for various AFTAC and their support units.
After my retirement from the Air Force, my family and I settled in Aurora, Colorado, just southeast of Denver. My pastimes
are devoted to genealogy, hunting big game in the Rocky Mountains and birds on the eastern plains of Colorado and Kansas.
When not pursuing one of the above you can find me out fishing at one of the many watering holes in the state of Colorado.
At all other times you can find me in the garden tending to the weeds around my pepper and tomato plants.

Ida Mae works full time at Shalom Park nursing facility for the elderly a few miles up the road. She is a Colorado
State certified nurses assistant. She also works part time at the Johnson Center, another elderly care facility in Littleton,
Colorado, about ten miles from home. She says she needs spending money, so she works the part time job. But the truth of the
matter is, she works the part time job to keep track of our daughter.
When not working full and part time Ida tends to her children, Heather and Mikie :-), which is another full time job in
itself. When time permits she can be found at Sam’s Club, Costco, or the nearest shopping center. When her money is
gone and mine is low, you can find her baking in the kitchen or outside in the garden tending to her flowers and plants. She
likes to cut the grass and we fight to see who can get home first to do the mowing. Ida can be e-mailed at:

The Critters
The rest of the family consists Winston, descendants of the African Grey tribe of feathered friends. Winston is
quite a handful sometimes, he talks all the time and the likes to chew things up. One day when he broke out of his cage
he decided to try out my keyboard. Winston took all the keys off the board. It looked like popcorn all over my desk.
We had a good laugh and yes everything went back together just fine.
Our fine feather friend was given to us by some close friends who were stationed with us in India. The Bjurstrom’s
sent Winston via air freight to Denver Airport where we picked them up. Winston can be quite entertaining at times,
yelling and screaming, just like the Bjurstrom's did at home. We will never miss Susy Bjurstrom, as her laugh is always present
in our home, courtesy of Winston.
