One thing I am is a scientist. I actually think in terms of separable equations and orthogonal coordinate systems. I see life as pretty confusing - to me it is sometimes very confusing. Scientists try to understand so that they can bring some order out of chaos. That order might take the form of jet air traffic controllers, roadways, bridges, satellite navigation, refridgerators, televisions... whatever. Science also asks why people do what they do - many people are unhappy or in pain - and science sometimes trys to understand them so that it can help them.
I was thinking today that even if the World Trade Center or it's equivalent were destroyed by terrorists Every Year for the next 10 years, more people would die of events associated with America's primary legal addictive drugs, alcohol and nicotine, than would be killed by terrorists. It makes me wonder who has a vested interest in making Americans so afraid of terrorists in our midst? I thought Bush was mainly into oil... is he into tobacco and alcohol too? Maybe it is just his friends...
I am at work today on a day off. The halls are pretty empty as I walk toward the "coffee pool" - the place where kind employees keep fresh coffee brewing - another of America's legal addictive drugs - for only 20¢ per cup. Absentmindedly, I reach under the edge of my jumper and feel my 2-year-old vagina - for which I longed 40 years before obtaining. The longing must have overriden my sense of indiscretion... "It is a good thing the halls are empty," I think. Then I realize how lucky I am that medical science makes such a thing possible for me - - - and that I have watched the dance of powerful, violent forces around me as The Underprivilege fight for rights that Powerful deny them. Little things like the right to marry, right to work, right to safe housing.... I also realize that in my life I have been both White and Privileged, and, as of now, completely unprotected by The Law. It gives me, and I presume everyone who cares about me, a new perspective on Dr. Martin Luther's words.
"It's good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end."
- Ursula K. LeGuin
People think being a Lesbian is about sex. It isn't. Just being alive is about sex...
Being a Lesbian is about equality in the household and sharing life as equals.

Why do men like seeing two women have sex? Probably for the same reason women like to see two guys have sex...
The Measure of a Human is rooted in the mind of a child... Educators and Rulers have known this since time Immemorial,
So have Tyrants.
So Cherish and Guide your Children,
Model not for them the Tyranny of parent or thought,
The Children are the Future,
And the Future must be Different than the Past.
