Rafael Aniceto Ricablanca Lozada Family
A41

Rafael was born in Barili on April 17, 1909. He received his Mechanical and Civil Engineering diploma from Mapua. He finished his Electrical Engineering studies at CIT. His very first project, immediately after graduation, assigned to him by his trusting parents was to build a house by the river in Barili, a house big enough to shelter a large family like their own. Faeling personally supervised every construction detail of the house he designed. He assured his parents that this house would stand proud and strong, it would weather the forces and fury of mother nature...he had not counted on the forces of the other furies!

He had a passion for tinkering with mechanical parts and motors. This prompted his parents, especially his mother, to get him his own "shop"so he could tinker around...this was the beginning of the LOZADA AUTOCAR. After the 2nd world war, Faeling re-built the buses, installing US military truck engines on the buses, making the LOZADA AUTOCAR, the first bus transportation line that revived in the Province of Cebu. He was the official Mechanical Engineer for the bus line, a franchise that, over the years, grew 52 buses strong. He owned 3 of those buses, himself.

Faeling joined the core of Provincial Engineers officed at the Cebu Capitol. As senior Provincial Engineer, he was a one man show, designing, building the roads and bridges for the province, plus fixing and maintaining his heavy road building equipment along the way. Ironically, he was building the Talamban-Balamban Road funded by the Presidential Assistance on Community Development when President Magsaysay's plane crashed in Cebu. At the time, this very road was the only an access path to the crash site.

Faeling loved to dance, play tennis, chess and car racing, breeding fighting cocks and exotic birds.
