NetSet 0.62 Bug Fixes (3/5/2001) -------------------------------- Fixed client crash bug many people were experiencing during synchronization. Fixed bug where the first player could not move ships placed during setup on the first turn. Fixed bug in Oceans scenarios where a player could build a ship during inital placement, reveal a hidden hex, and build the second settlement on that previously hidden hex. Fixed bug where pirate prevented roadbuilding in adjacent intersections. Fixed "build after every turn" bug where owning wool and wood in a non-Seafarers scenario would give the player an opportunity to build. Fixed "build after every turn" bug where obtaining enough victory points to win during another player's turn would end the game and report the wrong victor. Now victory is delayed until the beginning of the winner's turn (according to Mayfair rules, a player may only win on his turn). NetSet 0.61 Enhancements (1/14/2001) ------------------------------------ Added support for the following Seafarers of Catan scenarios: Oceans (3), Oceans (4), Oceans (5), Oceans (6), A New World (3), A New World (4), A New World (5), A New World (6), The Five Islands (5). The Options Dialog (F1) now automatically pops up for each client after synchronization so that they may immediately see the scenario and options selected by the server player. NetSet 0.6 Enhancements (1/1/2001) ---------------------------------- Added support for the following Seafarers of Catan scenarios: Into the Desert (3), Into the Desert (4), New Shores (3-4), The Four Islands (3), The Four Islands (4). The question mark pane on the left of the screen now shows all the resource cards distributed by the die roll this turn. After a roll of "7" this pane shows the discards made by each player. Modified the blue playing pieces to stand out better against the coast. NetSet 0.53 Enhancements (11/25/2000) ------------------------------------- Added visual feedback in the form of blinking crosshairs indicating where another player has placed a structure on the map. Hexes producing resources are also indicated. Added support for a variant found in the Mayfair 2nd Edition rules, Islands of Catan. The server may select this map from the pulldown list when setting up the game parameters. The map is constructed using the following modifications: o Instead of land tiles ringed by a circle of oceans, the ocean and port tiles are mixed with the land tiles. This creates a map with a variety of islands, lakes, and penninsulas. o Ports are oriented such that both ports on a hex touch the same land hex. If there is no adjacent land hex, the port is removed from the board. A settlement built at an intersection touching two ports may trade at either rate. o The production numbers placed on each hex are random; however, hexes with matching adjacent numbers (or adjacent 6's and 8's) are not permitted. Gameplay is identical except for two rule changes: o Bridges can be built over edges of two water or port hexes. Bridges are treated as roads in every regard except that they cost one brick, one wood, and one sheep to build. Bridges count towards the longest road bonus and may be built using the Roadbuilding development card. o Settlements separated by nothing but water may be placed on adjacent intersections. NetSet 0.53 Bug Fixes (11/25/2000) ---------------------------------- Fixed bug where longest road calculation was sometimes including erroneous branches. Fixed bug where one of the sheep ports on a 5-6 player map was not recognized. Fixed some infrequently occuring network bugs. NetSet 0.52 Bug Fixes (6/25/2000) --------------------------------- Fixed major bug introduced with 0.51 where no one could close the lock on the trade pane. This effectively prevented anyone from trading resources. NetSet 0.51 Bug Fixes (6/24/2000) --------------------------------- Totally revised the networking code. The game should be much more stable now. This should eliminate the problems with the game going out of synch or entering deadlock. NetSet 0.5 Enhancements (6/5/2000) ---------------------------------- Support for up to 6 players added. Main window size increased to 800 x 600. 640 x 480 resolution no longer supported. The server player may select which map configuration to use. The following maps are available: 2-4 Player Settlers, 5-6 Player Settlers. This selection does not limit the number of players that may join the game; you may play a very crowded 6 player game on a 4-player map or a very spacious 4 player game on a 6-player map. A new option to support the special building phase for 5-6 player games has been added. To enable this special phase, select the "Build After Every Turn" option in the NetSet Options dialog. After every player's turn, all other players in order may build anything provided they currently have the resources. No trading of any kind is allowed during this phase. If a player does not have enough resources or stockpile pieces to build anything, NetSet automatically skips over that player. Press the "End Turn" button when you are finished building. Development cards may also be purchased during this phase. An alternative to "Build After Every Turn" is to set the "Discard Threshold" option in the NetSet Options dialog. The robber forces a discard of half the hand if a player holds more cards than the Discard Threshold. It is suggested to increase this number from 7 to 10 if playing with 5-6 players and you do not wish to use the "Build After Every Turn" option. The viewable chat region has been increased from 4 lines to 7 lines. Selecting the chat pane allows you to see the last 16 lines of text. The Kosmos edition optional rule "No Trading After Build" has been implemented. Die roll statistics are now tracked throughout the game. Press the F2 function key to bring up a statistics display. Rerolls of "7" due to the robber delay option are not tracked so the actual number of sevens rolled may be slightly higher. I added this because everyone likes to pout when their numbers do not come up. NetSet 0.4 Enhancements (2/27/2000) ----------------------------------- It is no longer necessary to edit the netset.cfg file before play. A Network Settings dialog is presented to the user which contains entries for player name and server IP address. The server may set various game options before play, including development deck distribution, stockpiles, and victory conditions. NetSet now defaults to the Mayfair 3rd edition distributions (previously it used 2nd edition). The "No Trading After Build" Kosmos edition rule has not been implemented yet. After the serving player closes the option dialog, pressing "F1" from the staging area or the main game will restore this dialog. Pressing the "Current NetSet Options" button (below the turn end button) will also bring up the options dialog. Added sound effects for building roads, settlements, and cities. A "bong" sounds at the beginning of your turn. Building costs are now displayed when mouse is moved over valid construction locations. When a robber steals from a player, both players involved are informed what is stolen. A "ZAP" sound is played for the victim. After moving the robber, if there is only one valid player to steal from then a card is automatically stolen without further user input. When development cards are played, a text message is displayed in the chat window in addition to a sound effect. The message displayed when discovery or monopoly is played includes the cards gained by the player. NetSet 0.4 Bug Fixes -------------------- Network delays could allow a player to press "End Turn" twice, skipping the next player's turn. This has been corrected. During a trade, if the phasing player selects "Clear Trade" at the same instant the target player selects "Make Trade", network lag could cause unpredictable results to occur. To correct this, the phasing player must now unlock the trade before it may be cleared. NetSet 0.31 Bug Fixes (11/24/1999) ---------------------------------- Fixed problem during game setup where players selecting their colors before everyone was logged in would cause some players to see their opponents with the incorrect color. During initial beta testing, all resource cards were purposefully made visible to all players. Now opponent's resource cards are hidden. NetSet 0.3 (12/20/1997) ----------------------- Yes, 1997. I took a two-year sabbatical from NetSet.
