Metz Model 22 (1912 - 1915)

The Model 22 Metz was made as a two passenger roadster from 1912 through 1915. The four pictures below show the evolution of this roadster. The first picture is the 1912 version which has the speed change lever ouside the cockpit. This lever was moved to the center of the cockpit starting in 1913. The second picture shows the roadster as it looked in 1913 and 1914. In 1914, the torpedo roadster shown in the third picture was also produced. Note that the gas tank is enclosed by the rear "turtle deck" which also provides trunk space. The final version of the Model 22 is the Fore Door version shown in the fourth picture and was produced in 1915. Note that it looks significantly different and now has doors.

The two passenger Model 22 Metz was also made in the two additional forms shown in the pictures below. The first picture shows the Model 22 Special Roadster produced in 1913. It was a stripped down version of the standard roadster and initially sold for $100 less. The second picture shows the fancier Speedster produced in 1914. It sold for $25 more than the standard roadster. The car in the picture has the optional fender mounted electric lights.
