French artist François Houtin, born in 1950, began his study of printmaking in 1973 at the Atelier Jean Delpech. Since 1978, over thirty solo exhibitions of his work have been held in France, England, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sicily, and the United States. In 1981 he was awarded the Prix de Gravure Lacourière. Public exhibitions of his work have been held in Rome (1984), Palermo (1985), Paris (1992), and Craon(1996).
Houtin was trained as a landscape architect and has practiced in Paris since 1971. His landscaping credits include designing the gardens at the Plantbessin Chateau in Normandy and serving on the board charged with the restoration of the Tuileries Gardens. Currently he is participating in the project to decorate the Place Vendome for the year 2000 celebration.
