I am currently
doing a total restoration of this 1972 Mercury Montego GT. It is vin# 2H16S506339.
It is equipped with a 400 2V engine, C-6 automatic transmission and a 2.75:1
open rear axle
and is (2B) bright red with a (FA) black interior with bucket seats and a console.
It was sent to District Sales Office 21, Atlanta Georgia. The manufacture date
was August 26, 1971.
I am lucky enough to have the original build
sheet and window sticker for the car.
On these pages,
I will show photos of this car going through different stages of its restoration.

| This is the car the way we found it sitting in a garage in North Carolina. The second owner had the car bead- blasted for a restoration, but developed health problems and abandoned it. | This is how the car looked the day I got it home in March 1999. | |

I immediately had
the car primered to protect it until I was ready for the restoration to
begin. |

of the restoration. December 2000 |
