A Tribute To My First Frosty

Our love of this very special breed of Pekingese started long, long ago in the far away land of Alaska, of all places!  We were so young, stationed in Fairbanks with the USAF, and very much wanting a pet to replace the one we had to leave behind.

Who would have thought we would end up with a beautiful white male Pekingese puppy!  We fell in love at first sight, and have loved the breed ever since 1966.

And, here is the little guy who started it all for us.  His name was Frosty, naturally, being white and being born in the great state of Alaska in 1966.

Frosty was such a wonderful friend and soooo much fun!  We never had to teach him to stand up like he is in this picture......he just started doing it.  He could sit like that for hours.  Frosty had a very laid-back attitude.  However, he was a terrific watch dog!  The only time he barked was when he was defending his turf.  In the picture below, he is standing in the winter snow of Fairbanks.  He was right at home in the cold weather.

Below are a couple of really old pictures.  The first one is me, holding my friend Frosti and pregnant with my first child, standing in front of the Matanuska Glacier in Alaska.   The next one  is good old Frosty, sleeping at my feet.  That little guy knew how to relax!

Unfortunately, my pictures of my first Frosty are limited.  Frosty was born in 1966, so he has long since gone to the Rainbow Bridge.  I hope he is waiting for me there.  I long to see him again.
