Just recently The 1997 California Unity Convention was held at the Queen Mary in Long Beach California. This event was hosted by California Dreaming Collation made up of groups from Central and Southern California and the International Foundation for Gender Education. The Co Directors were Allison Lang from IFGE and Joan Goodnight from the California Dreaming Organizations the Meeting and Banquet spaces was excellent.
One of the highlights of the event was the Magnus Hirschfrld Exhibit that was brought in from Berlin Germany for its first viewing here in the United States, The Exhibit is a historical over view of early history about the Transgendered, Gay and Lesbian Life Stiles dating back to the early 1900s. The Exhibit was on display from Wednesday threw Sunday, on the second floor of the Exhibit Hall. It was packed up and began a tour of museums and other convention around the country.
It was a busy week with simians and vendors who were there to provide services for the attendees of the convention. News Week was there doing interviews and taking pictures for an article they were doing on the transgender Community. Wednesday evening a Welcoming Reception was held in the Captains Lounge for the convention Delegates who had arrived on Wednesday. It was the first time ever that I had been to a brunch that had so many different selections available. The food was really good so I will probely go back again on a Sunday morning to have brunch with friends.
Over all the Queen Mary Was an Excellent Place to hold the ConventionI think Every Body had a good time and a number of people went out to Check out the Southern California night life. There were so many Exhalant places to take photos on the Ship, which is every Crossdressers Dream.
