ABOUT
Photographing in public keeps me awake and aware when my nature is to space out and daydream. "People watching" has been a form of enjoyment and creative perception since my youth. I find human beings to be infinitely mysterious, surprising and humorous.
The activity of photography on-the-go is a form of meditation in action with a mystical undertone. It is an art of wandering aimlessly while tuning in to intuitive clues to turn this way or that, stick around here, pack it up or push forward with the process. Searching for pictures is sometimes part of the plan but most of the best photos seem to find me. Often they appear on my way to or from work or while running an errand. Drifting around cities and towns frees me from linear thinking, boxed in feelings and the neurotic preoccupations of contemporary living. My hope is that I am creating a document of interest, a poetic and/or historical record. I feel blessed with the privilege of freedom to create this work.
