I'm also in love with south slavic music, particularly that of the Rhodope region (southern part of the country, near Turkey and Greece) of Bulgaria. I used to dance each week, usually on Tuesdays in the Castro, and at Ashkenaz, whenever there was balkan music playing there. In New York, the Hungarian House holds Folk Dance Fridays, which I have yet to attend but hope to soon.

I used to live in the town of Berkeley, California. I loved it there. There's no other place quite like Berkeley. It has a wonderful sense of political history, is culturally, intellectually, and culinarily rich, and is just a beautiful place. I miss Tilden Park these days.
