"We live in a world of energy. An important task at this time is to learn to sense or see the energy of everyone and
everything: people, plants, animals. This becomes increasingly important as we draw close to the World of the Fifth Sun, for
it is associated with the element ether ‘the realm where energy lives and weaves.’" --Carlos Barrios
"In any kind of situation, you have the choice of connecting with the energy that flows in the cosmos. You truly can transform
that energy into love, and bring that love to all of our body. It's very different than ' personal power'. The important thing
is to work with intent and incorporate that cosmic energy transformed in love in order to project that energy to the others.
This is the essential principle of the art of magic in the Andes." --Americo Yabar
Shortly after I wrote “Our Health and Healing Light” (8.09), I dreamed:
I am doing long-distance energy healing on a man. I vividly see his physical energy problems and where to smooth and work
his energy lines. My hands are in his energy field about three inches from his hips, the main source of his pain, as I move
them along his filaments.
I do this kind of energy work regularly (ponq’o, the Andean form I specialize in), yet I have not ever dreamed myself
doing it. The dream felt like my subconscious responding to my writing, showing me how to do more self healing.
I love the gifts that such synchronicity offers us: ideas our conscious minds might not think of, ways to take care of our
bodies, visualizations we can carry into waking life. As one of my ancestor helpers told me recently, “Light helps us
regenerate our bodies, like lizards.”
Working With Light Energy
Since light is energy, in a purely physical sense, we can think of “healing light” as enabling an energetic shift,
an energetic solution to a problem.
I first realized I was “seeing” energy years ago when I was smudging people. As I moved the sage smoke to “clean”
their bodies, I noticed areas that were “open” and areas that seemed dense and needed extra cleaning. Each person’s
energy field was different, and their fields changed from meeting to meeting.
I had no formal training, initially. Developing a skill that seems foreign has to do with shifting attention, paying attention,
practicing, getting feedback. In other words, experience! Everyone has different skills and ways of “seeing,”
and we can all do it. As Carlos Barrios, a central interpreter of Mayan prophesies about 2012 states in the quote above, working
with energy is essential in these times.
Many ancient traditions and cultures imaged and worked with healing light. Knowing this feeds our sense of what is possible.
It provides clues about what you and I might do. It takes us beyond dogma.
Union with the cosmos-consciousness, the “rainbow body” as it is called, has roots in Egypt, in the Hermetic Tradition;
in Persia, with the Zarasthrusan tradition; and in Asia, with the Buddhist Dzogchen & Tantric traditions. Creating filaments
of light to connect people, sacred place, and the webs that encircle the planet has roots in the Andes and in many meditation
practices. For example, the Incas perceived and fed “ceke lines” or filaments from temple to mountain to mountain
to sacred place; Don Juan Matus (of Carlos Castaneda fame) described humans as luminous fibers enclosed in a luminous egg,
with a single luminous fiber we can direct from our midsection to any conceivable place.
Many quantum physicists are now acknowledging the presence of a universal energy field that permeates the earth and connects
all living things.
Patterns of Luminous Energy
We know now from quantum studies that patterns of energy exist in a diffuse state in our organs, our cells, our etheric bodies,
our habits, our past, our future, and our minds. (Our brains are not really at the center of things, though we like to believe
this.) In the field of our existence, “consciousness” makes up 99%, and mind (matter) only 1%!
The patterns of energy, disturbances in the patterns, and energy centers of the body reflect this consciousness, showing up
as lines of light and color. Energy centers are referred to as chakras, dan tien, and hara in various traditions. The whole
of our energy field can be referred to as the “luminous energy field.”
Perceiving our patterns of energy and the fields of our bodies as light – as Alex Gray does so amazingly in his paintings
– is a wonderful way to shift our attention from the purely physical. For example, when the vortexes of energy we call
chakras have dull or muddy colors, we know they need cleansing or energizing; when they are bright and luminous, we feel vibrant
as well! I love that, in Spanish, chakras are known as “eyes of light” (ojos de luz).
Likewise, looking at, learning about, and repairing the webs of light around the planet is a calling that seems to be spontaneously
arising in many of us. We live in a matrix of energy; finding ways to “see” this takes us on a deeply rewarding
and mystical journey. It helps us to feed both present and future with our hearts.
With these energies, we connect outside time/space with all other Earthkeepers and weavers of the web (trees, mushrooms, mountains,
whales, humans) from all spiritual traditions. As we connect, one of our tasks is to bring our work into awareness of and
resonance with everyone else doing this work. No boundaries, no ego, just healing ourselves and healing the planet together.
A beautiful new moon journey vision by a member of the Medicine for the Earth circle illustrates the interconnectedness of
our luminous becoming:
“I felt energy from the Moon going into everything and then the energy became light. Very subtle beams of light were
going all over the earth, making a mesh of light. The beams of light and I went underground and connected with metals in the
earth and underground water. Then the beams of light woke up the seeds and roots in the ground. They moved into the trees
and sent lines of energy to one another. This strengthened the mesh. This mesh became brighter and I could see a haze of light
around the entire planet. I followed this light until it became concentrated somewhere in the ocean. Then I journeyed home.”
Weaving the mystical and the physical together we empower our actions and our connections. When we open our minds to the infinite
universe; when we open our bodies to delicious interconnection with all living beings; when we open our spirits to the divine
light that fills us, we expand our consciousness in myriad ways!
