General:
Lemicus - goddess of the inner (fresh) waters, Lemicus is also the protector of lost sailors and the creator of the lodestone. Lemicus is patron of libraries and the life of the ocean. She is an excellent dancer, and her laughter is what causes the winds to turn favorable for sea-bound merchants. Lemicus is often attended by several merfolk -- half fish, half human -- who spend hours combing her long hair and creating sea foam. She is the patron of dancers, librarians, Elves, and the wives of sailors. Her symbol is the albatross. Drogor - god of the angry oceans, creator of hurricanes and tsunamis. Drogor's anger is readily apparent as the sky turns grey and the children of the ocean scatter, and he often takes it out on hapless mortals who dare to set foot on his water. Drogor is the drowner of children and the destroyer of knowledge; if he feels a librarian has slighted him, he will ruin his or her books by seeing they are soaked with water or -- if a large body of water is nearby -- set a tidal wave upon the establishment to destroy it. His symbol is the shark.
Altars:
The black polished floor reflects the image of a large, azurite carving of a dolphin as it emerges upwards from the suface of the stone. Tendrils and wisps of cloudy mist cling to the columns and swirl through the temple and finally drift southwards out over the waves to blanket the surface of the lake. You also see a nautilus stairway. The blue-grey carving depicts in life-like detail the creature of Eluned -- at quick glance the dolphin appears to be actually rising from the water with her unmatched strength and knowing look. The stone is smooth and cool to the touch, and the sculptor's touch has captured the essence of wisdom in the eyes of Eluned's emblem.
This enclosed chamber is a safe harbor, sturdily protected from the wind and weather, unlike the lower levels of the temple. A small arching window to the south looks out over Cha'walkas, its shape a miniature replica of the pointed arches of the walls and ceiling. An altar placed in the center of the room is unadorned but for a low dish of incense that burns with a faint pleasant scent. You also see a nautilus stairway. The altar rests low to the ground, with a dish of incense placed carefully beside it. Smoke rises in a circling draft and fills the room with a pleasant odor. The scene depicted in the tapestry hanging on the wall shows a mythological building of the temple, as the Immortals construct the arches and spire of the temple. The island of Tethloren rises from the misty lake as Eluned in Elven form lifts her eyes to the peak of the temple's spire.
Obvious exits: none. You reach out and touch a graceful dolphin statue. look statue - The graceful statue of a dolphin rises from the cool pool, frozen for eternity in mid-leap.
The floor of the temple's northern wing is inlaid with a magnificent albatross -- shells, pebbles and smooth pieces of glass form the shape, feathers and details of Lemicus in her symbolic form. As the open sea air gusts through the temple and fingers of mist twine about the columns, one can imagine flying aloft with the great bird among the clouds. You also see a nautilus stairway. The image of the goddess of dance, laughter, fresh waters and ocean life shimmers with vibrancy, her grace and power joyfully depicted in flight.
A gigantic mosaic of the sun rising over the ocean fills one entire wall of the chapel. An equally large mosaic of a woman bidding her husband farewell before he sets sail covers the opposite wall. A table pushed against the third unadorned wall of the room holds a brazier filled with the ashes of burned prayer scrolls. Two plain wooden benches sit back-to-back in the middle of the room. You also see a smooth marble arch. Obvious exits: none. The arch is inlaid with images of seashells made from mother-of-pearl.
A small fountain shrine decorates the end of this corridor, bearing an image of Lemicus attended by merfolk. Amplified by the stone walls, the eternally bubbling water takes on a soft, deep murmur. Obvious exits: north. look shrine -- The shrine is made out of blue granite, sanded and polished to fine sheen. Lemicus appears as a stern, but kindly woman. Her merfolk are half-sized and wispy, smiling gently, but with wickedly sharp tridents.
The floor of the eastern porch is inlaid with the image of a huge shark, pearly grey shale forming its body and fins. Real sharks' teeth, thousands of them, some as large as a Halfling's head, line its open mouth. The toothy section stretches three paces along the floor, the razor sharp triangles angled upwards to catch at unwary feet. look shark -- The startling image captures all the beauty and terror of Drogor, here represented in his symbolic form. The teeth that form its mouth are razor sharp.
The top of the pile of rubble is just out of reach of the ceiling of the chamber, where the image of a ferocious shark is clear on a barren circle of stone. Small bones litter the top of the rubble pile, and offerings lie scattered about the loose stone. You also see a crude altar of rock slabs. Obvious exits: none. look shark -- A dark pattern in the stone of the ceiling is shaped remarkably like a shark. look bones -- Small bones from an unidentifiable source or sources litter the floor. look offer -- Several dried fish and some pretty, colored stones lie about the rubble pile. The crude altar is a simple slab of stone supported by two small stacks of rock slates.
The tang of salt hangs in the air, coming from the saltwater-filled fountain in the center of the alcove. A glowering statue of Drogor as his Gor'Tog self stands in the center of the fountain, up to his mid-calves in water. A small shark swims through the water, preying on the tiny gobbets of flesh that are dropped in by the local priests. Obvious exits: west. look fountain -- Carved out of stone and filled with fresh saltwater imported from Whitewing Haven, the statue that stands in the middle of it flows up from the center. In the fountain you see some crystal clear water, a small shark swimming happily through the water and a statue of Drogor. Chiseled out of granite, the artist has made allowances for size by miniaturizing Drogor down from a massive Gor'Tog to an only slightly massive Gor'Tog. Arms folded across his chest and face twisted in a dark scowl, the water that supplies the fountain trickles down from his mouth. On the whole, he looks like a crabby rock troll waiting to swat down the next annoying adventurer to bother him.
A small shrine stands in a shallow niche in the cliff wall. The concave floor of the niche acts as a basin, currently empty, but streaked with rust-colored stains and bits of feathers. Strands of shark's teeth dangle from an iron pole, clattering against each other in the wind. Passersby hurry past, averting their faces from anyone gathered here. At the back of the niche, a dark hole offers a faint glimpse of scattered bones, silent offerings to propitiate the sea. Carvings of sharks surround the niche, twisting and turning as though tossed by an angry sea. Tiny models of ships have been placed within the shrine, each bearing the name of the ship and symbols to ward against evil. Peering closely, you can see minature barrels and crates on the deck of one ship, offerings of the cargo to propitiate Drogor.
Heavily pitched mahogany rails along the foredeck of the ship converge on the pulpit just above the headless figurehead. Rusted chains and debris litter the area, most piled upon the lower eastern end of the prow. Occasional spray slickens the deck, making it slightly hazardous. Nestled between the rails is a small shrine, constructed from sea stones and hardened sand. This small shrine is made from the products of the sea -- smooth stones, curving seashells, and chunks of multi-colored coral decorating the surface. Embedded in hardened sand in the center is a tiny obsidian shark figurine.
Obvious exits: none. look statue -- A graceful Elothean maiden swims within the waters of the pool, Eluned's dolphin at her side to guide her safely back to land. look dolphin -- Eluned's symbol, the dolphin swims protectively next to a graceful Elothean maiden in the pool, ready to guide her safely back to land.

The Albatross, symbol of Lemicus, glides across the Spring skies in a cluster of twenty-one shining stars. Symbol of Drogor, God of the angry seas, The Shark swims through the black Winter skies as a cluster of fourteen glimmering stars. Aesry Kelpbells normally are found only on isolated slopes of the island, but they grow here in abundance. The pale green stems and foliage support the heavy nodding bell-shaped white-green blossoms. Legend reveals that the plants spring up where ever Lemicus walked and left her footprints. It is also believed one should never pick one, but leave them to grow where they will. [Aesry Surlaenis'a, Ayor Eloir'i'a] - A small shrine surrounded by a large bed of flowers stands off to one side. A trail of the same shells that form the road branches off and leads up towards it. Worshippers have placed offerings of everything from bird feathers and flowers to a beautiful carved ivory albatross at the foot of the small statue.
[Aesry Surlaenis'a, Ayor Eloir'i'a] -- The road curves off to the northwest, allowing an exquisite view of the lake. A statue carved from rose-colored coral sits upon a small balcony where people are gathered to enjoy the breathtaking scenery below. [Aesry Surlaenis'a, Aeliy Ilerthan'a] -- A beautiful statue of a leaping dolphin breaking through cresting waves marks a small shrine dedicated to the Goddess Eluned. Flowers and other offerings have been placed carefully at the base. A small walkway leads to a flowerbed full of daisies. You close your eyes and begin to meditate on the nature of Eluned, goddess of the seas and water, master of arcane and ancient wisdom, patron of learning and knowledge.
[Crossing Temple, Tower Tunnels] -- This section of the tunnel has seen some recent renovation. The walls have been scrubbed, and much of the dust and debris collected over the ages has been swept off the floor. Bright, new mortar gives a hint of recent repairs to the cracked and crumbling mortar of the older stonework. New sconces have been fastened to the walls, and brightly burning torches bring light and warmth to the cold stone of the passage. You also see a polished mahogany door.
[Crossing Temple, Tower Tunnels] -- Empty torch sconces cling forlornly to the soot-streaked riverstone slabs of the tunnel walls, the light and warmth that once bedecked this dreary hall long since extinguished. Cast by the merest glimmer of illumination from elsewhere in the corridor, long shadows flick and shudder across the drab stonework like the silent flight of bats at twilight. The S'Kra woman tears off a bit of bread and tosses it off to the side. "Come little white bird, have some tasty morsels, Eluned preserve you from the storms!" She gazes expectantly up into the sky, waiting for a familiar cry.
Cleric Quest - [Crystal Cavern, Some Deeper Water]
...and the waters are dragging you down. You swim further and further down, pushed by the invisible tide and the strain in your lungs. Pressure builds in your ears, behind your eyes. Part of you longs to gasp for air, but the rational part says that to do this will only speed you into death.... ...and still, the waters are dragging you down. All around you the world begins to grow darker, and you can feel your consciousness slipping tenuously out of your grasp. You no longer feel cold, only numb. Your limbs feel heavy as you sink.... ...and the waters drag you down to the bottom at last. Beyond the darkness you see a glimmer of something -- light. Shining through the deep waters, it glances off kelp and flashing schools of fish, glittering sands and the glittering predatorial eyes of the hunters of the sea. Slowly, the light moves over to you and coalesces into a graceful silver dolphin. The dolphin gazes down at you, then speaks in a high-pitched voice. "Greetings, pilgrim. You rest now in Eluned's domain. Have no fear for your life -- Eluned protects those who seek knowledge, and you would not have come here if you were not hunting information." The dolphin swims about, flipping its tail. "My mistress is named Eluned, goddess of the oceans and the knowledge of the lands. She has a bright aspect -- that of Lemicus -- and a darker one, that of the god Drogor. All are masters of the ocean, and possessors of knowledge beyond mortal ken. It is believed that Meraud and Eluned are sister and brother in the respect that both greatly prize knowledge." The dolphin makes an odd, clucking noise that you would swear is chuckling. "The symbols of each aspect correlate to what they are. Eluned's is a dolphin, Lemicus -- she of the fresh waters -- is an albatross, and Drogor -- he of hurricanes and angry oceans -- is a shark." The dolphin flips its tail, as if agitated. "Now," it continues when it has calmed down, "you have come here seeking knowledge. So shall I instruct you. Protection I have given you while you remained here, so protection can you give unto yourself. Simply wave holy incense at yourself and then commune. If pure you be, and in favor with the gods, then you shall receive my lady's protection. Else...." the dolphin swims about silently. The dolphin swims closer and peers at you with its laughing eyes. "I hope you have learned well for you cannot return here ever again. I see within you the fires of Tamsine; this is good. Now know the cool waters of Eluned, and all that they can quench and succor." As the dolphin finishes, a giant air bubble enfolds you and begins to lift you upward. Cool shades of green and blue pass you as you continue up, and finally you see the promise of light, and the glancing, flashing glow of crystal.... Excerpt from "Hamael's Song" By: Joy Chanticleer
As she looked up, a maid, she saw, a dolphin by her side. 'Your love still lives,' Eluned said, 'though deep beneath the sea. A mermaid's hand stole him from you, yet you can set him free. If you would gain his freedom, then three things will you need: A ship to sail, a net of hair, and a heart which holds no greed.'
Of salt and brine upon the breeze and To the kiss of the ocean's breath The soft caress of my heart's ease.
I rise to the sound of the waves And I pray...
Let there always be an ocean's wind
I work to the touch of the zephyr
Each day I splice, and sew and sail And I pray...
Let there always be an ocean's wind
Each evening as I lay my head down
Asleep within the salted spray And I pray...
Let there always be an ocean's wind The last note hangs in the air.
who gave me words to sing,
Soft wave wash over me
As I wet my feet to return Where thy children came. You hum softly to yourself, rocking from side to side.
O Eluned, return me to learn your sea-song
Let my words praise the flow of life
The foam of faith lift me
My soul be a psalm to thy sea
My words lift as the wave You rock gently back and forth.
The Starfish dwells with you,
So let my sea-song be with you,
Illumine us creatures all That we so sing your refrain.
