The Centurion Laser Shower has been designed to be very user friendly and incorporates the most up to date laser therapy technology available.
The Centurion Laser Shower operates by emitting a continuous shower of laser light at multiple frequencies from the treatment heads, so that a wide range of problems from surface injuries to deep seated soft tissue injuries may be treated without resorting to specific frequency selection for a particular problem - as was previously required by older style units. Research has shown that the most effective penetration of laser light is achieved by using laser diodes which operate at 785 NM. This will increase the effective average power directed towards the injured area and allow better penetration of the laser light.
Effects of Laser Light on Tissue
There are five actions of laser light on tissue that will be helpful to better understand this type of therapy.
1. Accelerated Tissue Repair
The most common example of the conversion of light energy into chemical energy is photosynthesis, where plants manufacture food from carbon dioxide and water. Light energy from the sun is the essential item in that process. No reasonable person disputes photosynthesis, it is a well known process that converts photons of light energy into chemical energy. The action of laser light is quite similar to photosynthesis in plants. Photons of light from a laser penetrate deeply into tissue and power the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is a molecule that is a major carrier of energy from one reaction site to another in all living cells. Increases in ATP as a result of laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take in nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. In straight forward terms, the cells of tendons, ligaments and muscles are repaired faster as a result of exposure to laser light. How much faster? A good rule of thumb is that the time for healing is reduced by 2/3rd of the time that would normally take with all other factors remaining the same. i.e. rest, feed, training, etc.
2. Rapid Formation of Collagen
Collagen is the most common protein found in the body. It is estimated that 80% of a horses body is made up of this important fibrous protein. Various types of tissue make up the body. Connective tissue is the most widely distributed. In connective tissue, fibroblast cells produce the ground substance and tissue fibre. The “extra” energy from laser light is used by fibroblasts to increase collagen production. Collagen is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries. Perhaps the most common example of collagen is the clear sticky substance found around open wounds. Wounds are healed or closed over very rapidly by the application of laser light. There is also less scar tissue formed when laser light is applied to the area.
3. Beneficial Effect on Nerve Cells and the Production of B-Endorphins
Laser light has a highly beneficial effect on nerve cells which block pain transmitted by these cells to the brain. Studies have shown that laser light increases the activity of the ATP dependent NA-K pump. In this case, laser light increases the potential difference across the cell membrane moving the resting potential further from the firing threshold, thus, decreasing nerve ending sensitivity. A less understood pain blocking mechanism involves the production of high levels of painkilling chemicals such as endorphins and enkephelins from the brain, adrenal gland and other areas as a result of exposure to laser light.
4. Accelerated Lymphatic System Activity and Reduction in Edema
Everyone wants to reduce the swelling in a horses leg. The problem is that the veins in the leg are only capable of removing one component of the swelling. Blood vessels can remove the water but not the dirty protein solution that is present. So, if a treatment modality accelerates blood flow, this part of the problem is not solved. The lymphatic system is required to take away dirty proteins from edema. Conclusions drawn from research, indicate that laser light is capable of doubling the size of the lymphatic ducts in the area of exposure and rapidly removing the protein waste. Another important aspect of the study showed that laser light was capable of “perfect” regeneration of the lymphatic system in the immediate area with no leakage and no confused network of ducts. In the normal regeneration of lymphatic systems, the ducts are leaky and the duct network is complex and confusing, leading to a tendency to have the same problem occur in the same area.
5. Formation of New Capillaries and Increased Blood Flow
Many types of treatments will increase blood flow. It has been shown that laser light does this extremely well, there is no question about that point. But, what is not commonly recognized is that laser light will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue. It is the formation of new capillaries that speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue.

The Centurion Laser Shower is battery operated and each charge will last 10 hours before recharging becomes necessary. The supplied charger is then plugged into the unit and it will be charged overnight, ready for use in the morning.

IMPROVING PERFORMANCE:
The Centurion Transpirator Therapy has demonstrated improvement in cases where obstructive respiratory conditions or airway water loss contributed to decreased performance levels. By working with the mucous blanket in the lungs, the Centurion Transpirator helps to expel the excess mucous and in most cases, any bacteria living there. Common respiratory ailments such as bronchitis, viruses and colds, may be shortened with the use of Transpirator Therapy, allowing many horses to get back to regular training and racing faster. The general health of horses who are exposed to dust, allergens and air pollutants may be helped with the Transpirator.
DEEP, POWERFUL THERAPY:
The Transpirator delivers pure water vapor, at a precisely controlled temperature, into the entire respiratory tract. It does not provide little water droplets, as a nebulizer does, which can only reach the upper respiratory areas, but air, saturated to 100% humidity, which penetrates into the deepest and smallest airways. Over 300 liters per minute of soothing water vapor is delivered for therapeutic benefits for your horse. A healthy, well hydrated respiratory tract is the first line of defense against respiratory agents.

The Transpirator is designed for use with all breeds of horses, from foals to adults. The air output is saturated to 100% relative humidity at 105oF + or - 3oF. The flow rate is also fixed, exceeding the peak inhalation flow rate of the largest, resting horse. In other words, the water vapor concentration and temperature of inspired air are always the same, regardless of the horse’s size.
The heated and humidified air is administered by an open Muzzle Mask such that air velocity and flow noise will not disturb the horse and such that the horse can breathe comfortably and safely in the event of flow interruption, e.g. power failure.
During treatment, the upper airways do not have to supply heat to warm inhaled air or water vapor to humidify it because the air delivered to the horse is already warmed and humidified slightly above normal body conditions. This prevents airway heat and water loss and deposits a thin film of condensation on the walls of the respiratory tract. Retained and condensed water thins the mucous blanket, dissolves mucous plugs and promotes mucociliary clearance.
The Transpirator cannot be used to administer drugs because it adds only water vapor to the delivered air. Transpirator treatment may be recommended by your veterinarian. It is not a cure for disease or infection problems and is not intended to replace drug or antibiotic therapies. Its only functions are to help clear secretions and to help hydrate the airways.
The Transpirator system is not a nebulizer. Nebulizers deliver aerosol particles of water or medication, whereas the Transpirator system delivers only vapor (gas) phase water. Aerosol particles cannot penetrate into the small bronchioles of the lung and cannot humidify inhalation until they evaporate. This require energy from the horse. Hence, a nebulizer will tend to cool the airways rather than warm them as the Transpirator system does.

Our Rental Program
The three month rental is designed so that you can evaluate our products over a short period of time. By doing the evaluation on particular problems, you can see first hand, whether the Centurion therapy products can be incorporated into your particular situation. Furthermore, sometimes a piece of therapy equipment is only needed for a short period of time. Whatever needs you have --- this program is designed for YOU.
At the expiry of the three month rental, a number of options are available;
1. 100% of the rental monies of the first three months will be applied against the purchase price. Should you continue on the rental program, 80% of each additional month shall apply against the purchase price. This eventually turns into a rent to own program.
2. The equipment can be purchased outright. The monies will apply either against a new or a demonstrator piece of equipment.
3. You may want to go onto a 3 year lease.
4. The equipment may be returned.
Please note, there will be a security deposit equal to one months rent, payable at the start of the rental. This will be applied against the purchase or refunded if the equipment is returned.
