- Graduate Student Handbook, or The Meaning of Graduate
Life (HTML, Postscript title page and body)
- As secretary of the Graduate Student Association at Wesleyan
University, I supervised the 1997 revision of the Graduate Student
Handbook, organizing volunteers to gather data and converting the
original document from Word format into the LaTeX typesetting language
and also into HTML. I updated the handbook again in 1998; the most
recent version is given above.
- Intuitionistic Semantics for Hereditarily Harrop Logic Programming (Abstract, DVI, Postscript, Postscript booklet)
- In my dissertation, I considered several mathematical models for
the programming language lProlog. Casual
readers may wish to consider only the introductory chapter on
constructive logic and logic programming.
- Winning at xbill (HTML)
- This is a sample of my monthly column on technology in
Gilbert! The Magazine of G. K. Chesterton. Technical content
usually gives way to Chestertonian politics in the small space of 600
words.
- Domestic Tranquility - A review of F. Carolyn Graglia's Latest Book (PDF)
- This book review appeared in the April 1998 edition of The
Amherst Spectator(Vol. II, Issue 5). During a period of
financial difficulties, this student periodical solicited alumni for
funds. I offered my talents instead.
- Commentary on "Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis" (HTML, DVI, or Postscript)
- This report fills in some philosophical and mathematical
details of "Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis", the
scholarly article at the heart of the Bible Codes controversy. I
wrote this for an analysis course; a shortened version has been
published in Gilbert! The Magazine of G. K. Chesterton.
(To view the HTML version properly on a Macintosh, change your
browser's character set to MacRoman, listed under Character Set in Netscape's
View menu.)
- QA Course Materials (HTML)
- These cover the lectures and exercises for a course on
quality assurance for e-commerce which I taught recently.
- A Little G. K. Chesterton Page (HTML)
- Mine was one of the first web sites about British author and
journalist Gilbert Keith Chesterton; it including a discussion of his
philosophy, called Distributivism. The design is a bit plain for
today's web; it was optimized to display properly on all terminals.
- Mary DeMarco (HTML)
- On the other hand, these very web pages use modern technology
- mainly Cascading Style Sheets.
- Curricular Renewal in the Liberal Arts and Sciences (HTML)
- As the graduate student representative to Wesleyan University's
Educational Policy Committee, I helped draft this groundbreaking
legislation on curricular renewal.
