On The Way

I got up early and made it to LaGuardia airport with plenty of time to spare. I kissed Richie good-bye and began the journey.

Forgetting I might get breakfast on the planes, I ate a Wendy's breakfast in the airport. Then I was a served breakfast on each leg of the plane trip. Of course I could've declined either of them but I'm one of those weird people who actually likes airline food. O.K This is way too much breakfast but...these might be my last, tasty meals for a while.

The ride from LGA to O'Hare was uneventful. (Given the recent TWA Flight 800 tragedy, that suited me just fine.) The flight from O'Hare to Denver was nice. A woman from Chicago chatted with me the whole way.

Upon arrival in Denver I looked at the Departures board to find the gate number for my flight to Grand Junction. The first incident of Murphy's Law had hit already...flight 7574 said DEPARTED. I promised myself I wouldn't panic...yet.

After scurrying to get to Gate 59, much nail biting and a brief conversation with the ticket agent, I was told that the board was in fact WRONG! That gave me a weird sense of satisfaction. If the board could, in fact, be wrong; were all the other flights really going to be on time? Oh well, not really my problem.

Well, the flight from Denver to Grand Junction should have been called Turbulence Express. I sat in the 10th and last row of this puddle jumper so I got to see everything that was going on. It felt like we were in a paper airplane in the middle of a twister. Oh the irony... My mother is worried about me going on an Outward Bound course but I'll wind up dying on this stupid plane!

Well, will wonders never cease...we landed safely and I made it to the Holiday Inn in Grand Junction. During the night my trepidation came in waves. One minute I thought everything would be fine. The next minute I thought, " What the hell am I doing?"
