There was always music in the household where I grew up. My father was a professional violinist, and my brother and sister were teenagers in the 1960's when I was just a lad. Needless to say, I was exposed to many strains of music, and have developed a taste for many of them. Among my favorites are classical, jazz, fusion, and new-age. Ever since I learned that a group of bright people created a way for computers to assist in the composition and transfer of music, I've really been "pigging out" on the abundance of high-quality music that's available for free over the Internet. The MIDI standard has given birth to a lively and up-beat (no pun intended) culture which has really started to flourish on the Internet. Take the MIDI Jazz Network for example: this is a site where professional Jazz musicians from all over the world combine their talents and create music for fun. And it's all made possible by the combination of the MIDI standard, and the Internet. The results are impressive--just go there and listen to some of the finished, and in-progress music they've created! One of my hobbies is to listen to and collect MIDI Music I've found on the Internet. I have so much music in my collection that I've developed some methods for cataloging and selecting music based on criteria I find useful. I call my collection, together with these selection methods, Marty's MIDI Catalog. My MIDI Catalog is now maintained on my home computer, and you are invited to stop in and browse it anytime that my Internet Link is up. To see if my home computer is currently connected to the Internet, please browse my "Link Page". From time to time, I am making sample music sets (extracted from my Catalog) available here on my home page. The sets are ZIPped archives containing MIDI files, and they may be played directly with my MIDI Zuke Box program. The following sets are currently available:
