The two Wire-Haired Fox Terrier paintings above are the result of a commission from Shirley Edwards. Her canines are agility dogs who, from the string of titles following their names, are quite prominent competitors. You will note that Tita's coat is long, while Paco's is clipped short and I believe is stripped. The setting in which the pups are painted is a competition from 2007. I painted them in action, purposely centering on their efforts, rather than showing them in context with their handlers. You can clearly see the concentration and focus these two exude as they cross various obstacles on the course.

Ever see an Art-Deco Pelican?? Well, I have seen many in Louisiana. The pose of the mother on the nest is often seen in similar settings; but with eagles depicted instead. Ever see an Art-Deco jail?? Well, actually the structure which had the source plaque from which the inspiration for the painting was drawn used to be the LaFourche (pronounced La-Foosh) Parish jail. However it had been reduced to an annex by the time Carol and I saw it.

I am constantly surprised by the number of Art-Deco structures that Carol and I have located in Louisiana. Many, perhaps most, are not listed on the National Historic Register, but many deserve consideration.

My thoughts were drawn to the sufferings of the Chinese People who were struck by the huge earthquake during 2008 and the subsequent, not inconsequential aftershocks

Will the management of North Korea ever remove their heads from the sands of time to view the sufferings of their people and the failure of their cult of personality and ego.. to perhaps ... change for the betterment of their people?

More Bluefish from the 2008 catch... I really like the one with the desert tones and several of the others... These came out well and really highlight the nature of my abstract realism trends

This piece is my annual medieval illuminated manuscript page interpretation which incorporates greyhounds. The source of the painting is from Le Livre de la Chasse (The Book of the Hunt), a 14th Century treatise on hunting written by Gaston Phoebus. Source texts which I draw from are housed in the French National Library and the Pierpoint Morgan Library.  I create these works using high texture acrylics, squeeze bottles and a stylus.
