Abstract paintings mark the beginnings
of my artistic efforts. Many of the early abstracts I completed centered around use of symmetry and geometric motif - combined
with high-gradient color contrasts with textural elements

| "The Yellow Line" |
|
|
| 18"Wx24"H Acrylic on Masonite (AVAILABLE) |
Using what I learned from my
early experiments with color and texture, using the techniques I had worked with in creating geometric and non-geometric abstracts,
I began to create abstracted images of real things, places, etc
This particular painting was derived
from a photo a Washington, D.C metro station, perhaps where the Yellow and possibly the Red Line intersect. The
huge vaulted expanses of architectural concrete above the commuters in shadow and backlit by the lighting intrigued me.
