Later that evening we met up with the two Norwegians.
We went to a couple good pubs and had some good
conversation. We all agreed to meet at the Prague Castle
the next afternoon.
The next morning I insisted on getting my laundry done.
Jo wanted to meet Tom for breakfast at a restaurant Rune,
one of the Norwegians, had taken us to. Oh I forgot to
mention that I went to church with Jo last Sunday. Rune
told us about a Catholic church that held services in English.
We went to this same restaurant while waiting for church to
begin. Anyway, I could not find the laundry. I walked
around for at least two hours. Since I was supposed to
meet everybody at the castle, I gave up and took the metro
to station nearest the castle. I could not for the life of me
find the castle. I walked around for a while then went back
to the station. I asked a man selling beans and grain where
it was. He gave me pretty good directions. By the time I got
to the castle I was twenty minutes late. I could not find
anyone so I just walked around the beautiful grounds. About
two hours later I left. As I was walking back to the hostel I
saw Jo walking with a new guy. We were so glad to see each
other we hugged. The guy, Sean, was staying at our hostel.
He was going to be going to Budapest on the same train we
were so she invited him along with us. He was so boring and
annoying I thought I was going to die. Of course, he was
American. After spending the day with him we tried to devise
ways to split from him. Somehow we finally escaped.
The next day Jo and I both had to do laundry. We found
the place without too much trouble. The Laundromat was
pretty comfortable. There was a couch and some English
language papers.
Two American guys came in and were obviously having
problems with the self-service aspect of the machines. We
told them what to do and where they could change their
clothes. Later, one of them came up to me and asked if I
spoke English! I gave the traditional Czech response, "just
a little." He started speaking very slowly to me so I told
him he should probably speak louder, also. He still didn't
get that I was playing with him. He and his friend then
proceeded to ask me where the nearest strip club was! Like
I would know. I'm very embarrassed by the behavior of my
fellow Americans. I asked where they were from and, it is
hard for me to write this, one was living in Walnut Creek
and grew up in Danville! Although he graduated in 1995
we attended San Ramon Valley High together
in 1991!
