The computer wouldn't let me write any more on that last note.
I arrived in Paris around 12 noon today. I again didn't
have a reservation. I tried to make one in London but
they would only take reservations weeks in advance.
I took the Metro to the Louvre area then looked at
my Berkeley Guide book. There was something called
BVJ Centre International de Paris/Louvre. It is identical
to a youth hostel but I believe it is endemic to France
only. When I walked up to the counter I spoke a minuscule
amount of French to the lady. She told me (in English)
that there were no beds, but if I came back in an hour
one may open up. She also said she would call around to
other places if she was still filled. The funny thing is when
I was waiting she told a couple of other people that there
was nothing and did not offer to call other places. One
girl even asked her to and she said no. I came back and
got the bed for the next four nights.
I next took a walk around Paris. I didn't go in
anywhere; just kind of got my bearings. Tonight I
will go to the Eiffel
Tower. I am going to splurge
and go all the way up (it costs about 11 dollars to do that.)
Tomorrow I hit
the
Louvre. That
is all for now. To those
who wrote me, I will respond soon. I
need to free this computer up for the
Frenchies.
Au revoir,
Marisa
